A new railway development project that will connect marine attractions in the Gulf of Thailand to the Andaman Sea was set out in a public hearing on Friday to gauge opinion. The line, a combination of existing rail tracks and a new line to be built in Surat Thani, will connect with two other state plans to lay down rail tracks in Phangnga and a tram system in Phuket in the Andaman Sea. Her office is currently focusing on the study on the development of rail tracks in Surat Thani. Its plan is to connect the Surat Thani-Ban Bo Krang stations (from Muang to Phunphin districts). A 28.6km section, more than a third of the 77km rail project, reportedly requires land expropriation, which is why the public consultation was called.
